FOOTEGELD, Pedis redemptio : vox Saxon. ex foote, pes, et geld, mulcta. In Assisa forestæ de Pickring 10. Edw. III. quidam se quietum clamavit de Footegeld, id est, ut canes infra metas forestæ inexpeditatos, custodiret, sine amerciamento, fine, vel forisfactura : et allocatur ei præterea, quod ita concessum esset alicui majorum ejus.
